I really hate when people lose something from just being careless especially when they lose it more than once, a week. But what bothers me the most, is when that kind of person can’t even take responsibility for their own stupidity, and has to put the blame onto someone else as if “someone has stolen it” What do you do when you are the blamed person? Do you confront them or should you just let it go. Well letting it go, might make people think that you did take it, but confronting them may also lead up to a larger conflict and perhaps more damage than it’s worth, when you know you are innocent!
What makes the situation even worse is when that person finds what they lost a few months later and of course, to their surprise it should have never ever been where they found it, is not going back up to the person they swore took it in the first place!
I had an incident once, where I lost my wallet! I looked everywhere for it and could not find it, I was so mad at myself thinking, had I just stayed home and not gone out the night before, I wouldn’t have lost the darn thing! I went through every minute in my mind of all the places we were for hours. We went to about 6 different bars that night. My first reaction was to go to all those bars and asked if someone had returned it, well the bad thing of that was those bars don’t ever open until 4 or 5 p.m. So for about 8 hours I had to just wait and think! I had $350 dollars in my wallet that night! I had just gotten paid and cashed my check to pay for some bills and thought to go out for a few drinks while I was there already. Well little did I know how many friends I had not seen in so long, so of course, I had stayed out way later than planned and drank more than I’m used to.
Finally 4 p.m. came and I jumped in the car to each place and asked, no luck, no one found anything or no one returned anything! I went back to the one bar that I remembered the most, and no, not because it was the first bar and I was still sober, but because I remembered buying the round of drinks since I was being bought all night. So I knew that’s where we were last! This should be the bar to have it found if I missed my back pocket and it dropped to the floor instead. Unfortunately nothing was ever found.
Weeks had gone by and I had mostly everything renewed that I needed for the future. I swallowed my stupidity and dealt with my loss! I had built my bridge and gotten over it. Then one day I was sitting there and realized I needed to cut my toe nails, so there I was trying to find my nail clipper case and had finally found it. I opened up my case and there to my surprise was my wallet! I immediately opened it and there was all my money! I was ecstatic! I couldn’t ever understand why I would have put it there, but then later I remembered that night I did come home and wanted to cut my nails, but then realized I have had a few drinks and I didn’t want to Slip and cut my skin so I must have just put everything all away together, which shouldn’t have been together. Well I did return to the bars and let them know that I have found it and where. We all had a good laugh about my stupidity of misplacing my wallet.
