About Technology Today

Have you ever wondered how much more technology will enhance. Or have you ever wondered how much has it really enhanced. Well to my surprise, the other night some friends and I were sitting around and chatting about whatever subject would came up, well it started out with when the next leap year will be. I said, I thought it was just last year and some agreed but we weren’t sure, so I pulled out my cell phone and looked at my calendar, which on my phone is called a scheduler. Well sure enough leap year was just last year. So there I sat looking at it and went even further just to see what something else on this other particular date, but then suddenly curiosity struck me and I wanted to see how far it would go back, I thought maybe five years. Well five years went by really fast, so then I thought ten years, even that came and went by fast. To my surprise my cell phone calendar went back 28 years! It went all the way back to 01/01/1981 so a friend next to me wanted to see what day she was born on in 1980, but like I said mine did not go back any further. So then she pulled out her phone and hers went back to 1980 so 29 years. Well I was amazed, so I kept telling people that, and they were like “shud up” or “no way”. So they tried their phone. And I thought my phone was great ----the one girl’s phone went back to 1933!!! Then this other friend tried hers, and it went back to 1900! The depression days! You should have seen the expressions on our faces. But the one that really tops it off is it just kept giving you a day no matter what date I put in; we went back all the way to 01/01/0001!!! I’ve had my phone for three or four years and I know I have wondered what day was a certain date at one time or another but never had a calendar at home to have gone back far enough to find out. Who would have thought that I actually did have a calendar that went back far enough and all along is one of the smallest gadgets with a lot of calendar space all in my cell phone! Sure it’s okay if you stop reading to look at your phone. Oh don’t let me forget to tell you a shortcut to see how far your phone goes back without having to scroll as I did. There is an option button to push then click and it should say (Go to Date) push that and enter as far back as you can or wish. Some didn’t have that option at all, so you’ll just have to scroll. On my phone it was kind of strange, after it said go to date it highlighted the very top so I had to scroll to the right with the right arrow on the phone, and then enter a date over the 2009 being displayed. So with the phones that I surveyed here’s what I found out. My phone, a Kyocera, goes back to 01/01/1981, 28 years. Then I tried a Motorola phone and to our surprise that one only went back to 01/01/2000, only 9 years! Then I tried a Samsung that went back to 01/01/1980, 29 years. The iphone-3G went back to 1933. Another Motorola PDA went back to 1900. The Verizon went back the farthest of all that was the one that just kept letting us enter dates all the way till 01/01/0001! I’m not sure how to say that year. Here are some examples: 01/01/1962 was on a Wednesday; 01/01/0900 was on a Monday; 01/01/0200 was a Saturday; and 01/01/0001 was on a Friday. The calendar itself doesn’t show up it’s just the dates. So how about technology? Pretty amazing isn’t it? I certainly think technology is amazing.. The calendar itself doesn’t show up it’s just the dates. So how about technology? I certainly think technology is amazing and has been coming a long way and I'm sure it's not over yet.
